REHABILITATION OF THE PALACE OF THE HABSBURG COURT AND ITS GARDENS The restoration and rehabilitation  of Monza’s Villa Reale and its gardens – “Functional Lot I: Central Body” – is the first stage in the project.

The work entails the restoration and rehabilitation of the central body of the Villa, the partial restoration of the North Wing, the construction of a technical area outside the Villa on the north side, the implementation of safety measures in the Entrance Court, and the management of the commercial areas, craft workshops, bar, café, restaurant and flexible, multipurpose areas for the entire duration of the concession. Work on the building complex will comprise all the operations for the reinforcement and restoration of the partitions forming the rooms (e.g. vaults, wooden floors, etc.), all in accordance with the approved project. It also includes extraordinary maintenance and faithful restoration of the paving and the gate to implement safety measures in the Entrance Court, and work on the southern façade of the North Wing, consisting of the examination and restoration of the external doors, windows and shutters on the section of the wing undergoing renovation. Finally, due to requirements of functional self-sufficiency, the project also envisages work to complete the stairs in the South Wing, on the edge of the central body of the Villa, and the necessary work to make the stairs accessible to the users of the central body. The principal aim of the project is to combine the old historical and artistic characteristics of the central body of the villa with practical features able to sustain the economic cost of the operation. In order to achieve this, in addition to the restoration of the historic rooms on the piani nobili of the central body, the project also comprises the following work: 1 – renovation and rehabilitation of the belvedere level and the identification of new uses; 2 – renovation of the rooms on the ground floor; 3 – practical adaptation to the new use of the villa.
