STRICT ATTENTION TO ORIGINS AND TECHNOLOGY IN CONSERVATION
A delicate restoration work that needed a team of high qualified engineers, architects and workers to stop the delapidated state of the fragile structures of the church.
A delicate work of restoration that required the commitment of a team of design experts and highly qualified teachers to stop a process of damage that was seriously harming the fragile structure of the basilica. An authentic jewel of Roman architecture – gothic varied with oriental elements. The basilica of San Antonio at Padova needed urgent restoration work to arrest the damaging action caused by time and pollution. On the occasion of the Jubilee Year of
2000 it became possible to do some of the interventions necessary for the consolidation of the structure and the restoration of the works of art. These delicate operations saw the most authoritative designers and most qualified professors committed, in an environment of great attention to origin for the preservation of the originality of every single element. In particular the restoration of the eight domes needed a very delicate operation that was divided into two fundamental stages; the intervention of the internal linear structure and that of the external lead covering. An articulated system of internal scaffolding permitted the carrying out of all the necessary work on the structures while an advanced system of multidirectional scaffolding, perfectly shaped to the forms of the domes and exceptionally light was particularly adapted to the work and height.
