A PROJECT IN THE ITALIAN JUDICIARY SPHERE
A completely new building to equip the court with a structure able to offer the maximum functionality through high-level technology for the construction of structures, exteriors, systems and fittings.
The new seat of the Court of Appeal at Rome, desi- gned by Arch. Paolo Cuccioletta, was contracted to Italiana Costruzioni SpA by the Minister of Infrastruc- ture and of Regional Transport Services to the OO.PP for Lazio. It aims to give the court a structure able to offer maximum internal functionality and the greatest use of available space in relation to the mor- phological and geometric characteristics of the area. The building consists of underground parking levels (providing 200 parking places), three above ground storeys for all the typical activities of the Court, and a level of technological support. Access to the building is from Via Antonio Varisco through a spacious stair- way that leads to a central space covered by a glass dome. This is the meeting point for the users and conducts to a spacious atrium, inside which are the elevators and stairs that connect the levels and va- rious areas of the building. The complex uses high grade technology both for the construction of weight bearing structures and the exe- cution of the exteriors (panels of cement and glass fi- bres and structural fixtures). It is also characterised by the choice of materials of the internal fittings, whose floors, ceilings and wall fixtures are of high-quality and durability. This ensures low costs of work maintenan- ce and repairs. Particular attention was reserved for the definition and planning of the electrical system and of air- conditioning of the building and also the fire alarm system for the two parking levels.
