NEW PASSENGER SERVICES AND AREAS
The renovation and adaptation of Porta Nuova Railway Station in Turin will see the creation of a completely new mezzanine floor offering new views and points of observation over one of Turin’s most important buil- ding complexes.

The project will renovate and adapt Porta Nuova
Railway Station in such a way as to bring it in
line with the functional requirements of a modern station. Once the project – currently in progress – is completed, the station will offer high quality services such as large primary and secondary passenger service areas and new walkways which restore the livability and quality of the existing environments. From an organizational point of view, the project will enlarge, restyle and reposition all the passenger service areas in such a way as to eliminate the previous chaos, poor quality service and disorganized image of the station. The new passenger service areas will be connected by a new system of walkways. The project will also introduce passenger services such as ticket offices, customer care centres and waiting rooms to the ground floor. The creation of a completely new, metal and glass mezzanine floor will bring a new horizontal and vertical visual permeability to the station, enabling better appreciation of the original building complex by offering new views and new points of observation. Finally the project will also include the modernization of the technological facilities (electric system, air conditioning system, fire fighting system, etc.) in the basement and roof.
