			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE ROME RING ROAD WIDENING PROJECT<br />
A 360 metre long bridge over the River Tiber and other secondary works designed to enable the widening of the Rome Ring Road motorway.</p>
<p>urrently in progress, the project will see the construction of the third lane of the Rome Ring Road in an extremely difficult area between km<br />
17+400 and 18+800. The aim of the 56 million of euro project is to solve the technical problems posed by such constraints as the presence of highly built up areas, the need to cross the Tiber and the use of a single lighting solution which does not interfere with the hydroelectric plant at Castel Giubileo. The River Tiber will be crossed by two 360 metre steel bridges, one per carriageway, lit by a 160 metre central lighting system. The layout of the lighting three continuous lighting elements and one tall central light – ensures that this is the most important section of the whole Rome Ring Road lane widening project. However, the project also includes several secondary elements such as the total renewal of the Via Flaminia junction, the construction of new slip roads to nearby inhabited areas and the creation of a new pedestrian walkway.</p>

Important modernization initiatives will transform the Saronno Malpensa railway into the main means infraofaccessing the region of Piedmont from the new Milanese airport.</p>
<p>The iniziative regards the construction of two buildings of the first phase of the Giustiniano Imperatore Urban Requalification Programme promoted by the Municipality of Rome. Italiana Costruzioni has been awarded the contract which also includes the executive planning of the works in association with a number of other construction companies operating in the Roman arena. The aim of the project is to provide answers to the problems outlined in the Requalification Programme regarding the use of public spaces, areas not only destined to public facilities and/or facilities for public use (such as roads, pedestrian areas, quares, gardens and parks), but also, and above all, to facilities whose<br />
use places them on the border between the public and the private domain (underground systems serving the various buildings of the area). More specifically, the project aims to create two bifunctional buildings which will include both private homes and public facilities. The private homes will be designed in such a way as to respond to the differences in demand highlighted in the Programme and the buildings will be structured so as to maximize the efficiency of plumbing and building features (bathrooms, balconies, etc.). Indeed, these features will be designed in such a way as to serve all the rooms of the various homes (sitting rooms, bedrooms, distribution areas) directly. The public facilities will include a new municipal swimming pool, other sports areas and facilities, gardens and pedestrian walkways.</p>

A new road with the combined function of regional highway and supporting infrastructure for the urban<br />
network.</p>
<p>The project envisages the construction of a direct connection between “Briantea” State Highway 342 and “Varesina” State Highway 233 in the south- north direction, in the Olona River Valley, thus expanding the road system along the axis of the A8 motorway, Pedemontana motorway (planned) and the Swiss border crossings at Ponte Tresa and Gaggiolo. Currently the connections are supported by the urban street system (Via Peschiera, Via Vanetti, Viale Valganna). The purpose of the project, the first part of which has already been completed, is to build a new road that, in keeping with the urban and regional planning policies, is able to offer the combined function of regional highway and supporting infrastructure for the urban network. Additionally, this road must ensure a high level of mobility while being as attentive as possible to environmental preservation by rationalising the existing infrastructures. The new highway thus not only allows transit, but also aids distribution and penetration. The working project of the infrastructure, designed by Italiana Costruzioni with the other companies belonging to ATI, was developed on the basis of the final project submitted to the tender called by the Province of Varese. The working project paid particular attention to the problems associated with the environmental integration of the works in the region and interference between the road and the urbanised areas that it crosses.</p></p>
